Recipe extraction requires the video to have captions or subtitles. Most cooking videos on YouTube include auto-generated or manual captions. If extraction fails, the video likely doesn't have captions enabled. Try finding the same recipe from a different creator who has captions on their video.

Eggcellent reads the video's captions to understand what the chef is saying. We then use AI to identify ingredients, quantities, cooking steps, and timing. Without captions, we can't "hear" what's being said in the video. Think of captions as the recipe's voice!

On YouTube, look for the "CC" (closed captions) button in the video player. If it's available, the video has captions and will work with Eggcellent. You can also click the settings gear icon → Subtitles/CC to see available caption languages.

Currently, Eggcellent supports YouTube videos only. We're working on adding support for more platforms in the future!

Most recipes are extracted in 10-30 seconds. Longer videos may take up to a minute. If you see a cached recipe (already extracted by another user), it's instant!

Check your spam folder first. If you still don't see it, make sure you entered the correct email address. You can try signing up again with the correct email. The verification link expires after 24 hours.

Every extraction counts toward your monthly limit, whether it's a new extraction or from community cache. Only navigating to a recipe you've already extracted (clicking "Take Me There") won't count toward your limit.

Paste a YouTube cooking video URL, and Eggcellent reads the video captions to extract ingredients, measurements, and step-by-step instructions. Our AI organizes everything into a clean, printable recipe format you can save to your cookbook.

Yes! Every recipe can be edited. Click on any recipe in your cookbook, then click the edit button. You can modify ingredients, steps, servings, cook times, and more.

Yes! You can export any recipe to PDF or Markdown format. Just open the recipe and click the export button.

Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This will permanently delete all your data including recipes and cannot be undone.
